The Ross Valley Sanitary District (RVSD) is currently working on a project involving the lining of existing sanitary sewer pipe in the downtown San Anselmo area. The work schedule, which is being listed as “tentative” while final details are being confirmed, includes cleaning and lining several existing sanitary sewer pipe segments along San Anselmo Avenue (between San Rafael Ave and Ross Avenue), Kientz Lane, Library Place and Tunstead Avenue (from Library Place to San Anselmo Avenue).

The most parking impactful phase, (Phase 3), will be completed at NIGHT to minimize parking disruption for merchants.

The work will take place in four distinct phases:

PHASE 1. Pipe cleaning: Complete

PHASE 2. Two isolated pipe repairs: Complete

PHASE 3. Pipe lining:

When: This work is tentatively scheduled for October 15th through November 22nd. Detailed dates to be posted on the blog, the Town website and issued directly to businesses as soon as they become available. Working hours in this area will be between 6:00pm and 10:30am Monday- Friday.  For clarification, the definition of a Monday night shift is Sunday 6:00pm through Monday 10:30am, as Friday would be Thursday 6:00pm through Friday 10:30am.

Reaches: This work will be completed in 7 reaches and water restrictions should only apply to each business for one shift.

Parking Impact:

·         10:30 am-5:00pm: a maximum of 2 parking spots impacted

·         5:00pm – 7:00pm and 7:00am-10:30am: a maximum of 10 parking spots impacted

·         7:00pm – 7:00am: obstructed parking spots for up to two blocks at a time. Parking spots will not be taken until businesses are closed or other arrangements have been coordinated with the business owner.

Access to the property: Access to properties will be maintained at all times

Water usage impact: For most businesses water usage impact will be none. However, a few businesses may be effected for one late night/morning only. The contractor has already reached out to these businesses directly and will continue to work closely with them.

Schedule Risk: The lining process is much faster and cleaner than digging a deep trench through downtown; however, there are still processes and unforeseen conditions that could cause a delay in completing the project on time. Every effort has been made to minimize the impact of this project, and no expense was spared on the technique and equipment. If there is a delay in schedule that cannot be mitigated, you will be notified right away. It is prudent to also plan ahead for the night following the work in case there are complications or delays. If there is a delay, you will be notified right away.  If you provide your email, we can update you of success and/or complications as we proceed through the 7 reaches. To be put on a contract list, please email a request to: ,, and

Manhole repairs:

When: This schedule will be announced soon.
Parking Impact: The contractor will be blocking no more than 2 parking spots for two days per location
Access to the property: Access to properties will be maintained at all times
Water usage impact: None

To accelerate the project, the contractor will be parking equipment on San Anselmo on the block between Ross and Mariposa. If you have any questions, please call Project Manager DeAnn Duhn at (920) 539-3812 or Construction Manager Andy Deal at (415)787-3002.
