Building Department

The Building Department is responsible for enforcing the California construction and energy codes by reviewing building plans and issuing construction permits for any construction and demolition that takes place within the town. Most projects require a permit of some kind. This is necessary to ensure that all buildings meet the minimum standards to protect its occupants and neighbors.

Permits obtained from the Building Department include building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, solar, pools and spas. Refer to the Forms and Permit section for blank forms.

The Building Department is also responsible for the issue of a Residential Record Report at time of sale of any house. Town Ordinance requires a records report and site inspection prior to sale of any residence. Refer to the Forms and Permit section for a blank copy of the Residential Record Report form. Please fill out the top portion and submit it at Town Hall to request the report and site inspection.

Refer to the Public Works Department for information on tree permits, fence permits, encroachment permits (sidewalk, curb, driveway work), excavation and grading permits, storm drain permits and wells.
