Support the Library

There are many ways to support the San Anselmo Library:

Friends of the San Anselmo Library
    Library Advisory Board
    Library Parcel Tax Oversight Committee
Visit the Library and Attend our Programs

The Friends of the San Anselmo Library was established in 1975 to extend and improve the resources of our library.  Recently we have contributed to library programs including  Childrens' programs, our Tuesday Art Talk, and  Saturday Afternoon Lectures.  We've purchased needed equipment and made additions to the materials collections as requested by our Librarian, which wouldn't otherwise be possible, given reduced State funding.

Our active fundraising is primarily through membership dues and  book sales.

We always welcome new volunteers and could use help with:

-Working at Town Books, the Friends of the Library's used bookstore

   -Sorting donated books

   -Procuring book donations

   -Online book sales

Have fun, meet people, get first crack at buying donated books,

and 100% of our proceeds benefit our community library...

what could be better?

If you are interested in joining us, or have books to donate, please contact Joan at  .

The Library Advisory Board was established in October 1976 by Town Council Resolution #710. The Board is charged with:
  • Encouraging innovative programs
  • Proposing and recommending guidelines for programs and facilities to meet the needs of the community
  • Reviewing reports from the town librarian concerning library operations
  • Seeking ways of informing residents of library services and soliciting their comments

Library Tax Oversight Committee

On June 8, 2010, San Anselmo residents approved a Library Tax by passing Measure B with a 75.85 majority of votes cast.  Library Tax funds are to be expended specifically to enhance general Library services, hire a Children's Librarian and increase hours of operation.

On November 23, 2010, the Town Council established the Library Tax Oversight Committee to ensure that the tax funds are spent according to the parameters setout in the Library Tax measure.

The membership of the committee is five seats, with one member representing the Library Advisory Board, one member representing the Friends of the Library, and three members representing the general public.  The group will meet twice a year to review the Library budget.  The terms of the members will be three years.
