The Town of San Anselmo Public Works Department was awarded grant funding through the Safe Pathways program through the Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) to construct a sidewalk gap closure project between Brookside Elementary School and Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
The proposed sidewalk is located along the west side of Butterfield Road from Rosemont Avenue to Sir Francis Drake Boulevard (SFD), then continuing on the north side of SFD to Fairfax.
The Town is currently seeking proposals from engineering and environmental services firms to assist with the design of the project.
Once a design professional is under contract, the Town will hold public meetings to discuss the project. It is anticipated that the design process will continue through spring 2019, with construction expected in fall 2019.
Preliminary construction costs for the whole length exceed the available funding. The project scope has been reduced to install sidewalk on the north side of Sir Francis Drake only. Construction is planned for summer 2021.
