Arts Commission

The Arts Commission was established in July 1996 by Town Council Resolution #3355.

BeatlesPostcardImage2023Charge: The San Anselmo Arts Commission strives to enhance and promote a culture of the arts in Ross Valley, comprised of artists and events to engage, inspire and connect the people in our community.


Purpose: The Commission promotes the growth and flourishing of art and culture activities in the community by advising Town Council and working cooperatively with town departments.

Goals and Objectives: The goal of the commission is to add to the cultural character of Ross Valley through any form of artistic expression. The objectives include providing a structure to facilitate the creation of art in all disciplines in the community, promoting and exhibiting art and cultural works produced by Ross Valley artists and promoting art education in the community and schools.

Organization: Nine members appointed by Town Council to serve a three-year term, plus up to two Youth Commissioners appointed by the Commission to serve a one-year term.

Members must be residents of the Ross Valley, with no more than five members being non-residents of the Town.
