Climate Action Commission
The San Anselmo Climate Action Commission’s primary goal is to work with Town Council and residents to achieve the goals and implement the actions in the adopted Climate Action Plan: to mitigate the effects of climate change by reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and sequestering atmospheric carbon dioxide, and support adaptation planning and promote strategies to cope with the impacts of climate change.
In San Anselmo most of our emissions come from transportation and the methods to power our homes. There are many ways for San Anselmo residents to put the brakes on climate change. By making the switch to clean transportation and clean power in our homes and businesses, improving our energy efficiency, reducing our waste and mitigating our use of plastics we will make a big difference.
To learn more about the Commission please join us on the fourth Monday of the month from 7-9 PM. Meeting links and agendas can be found here. You can follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We hope to see you soon.
The Commission was originally named the Quality of Life Commission in 2000, and renamed the Sustainability Commission in 2015. A Town Council resolution in 2021 renamed it the Climate Action Commission to better reflect the focus of the Commission’s activities to secure a liveable climate for current and future generations.
Organization: Seven members appointed by Town Council to serve a 3 year term, plus up to two Youth Commissioners appointed by the Commission to serve a one year term.
