Longtime resident and Town Council Member Kay Coleman had her last San Anselmo Town Council meeting on this past Tuesday. It was standing room only as everyone wished her farewell and expressed their appreciation for everything she has done over the years for the town. As a 47-year resident of San Anselmo, Kay has exemplified the meaning of being a Town leader. As a teacher at Drake High School, a member of the Town's Parks and Recreation Commission, as Community Resources Director for the Town and finally, for the past 10 years as a member of the Town Council, Kay has given her time, energy and skill towards efforts to bring the community together. Kay was the lead in the Downtown Beautification Project which brought improvements to the downtown commercial area. She cultivated many volunteer project through her work with the San Anselmo Volunteer Effort (S.A.V.E.). Some of Kay's most lasting work is through the many events and gatherings she put together that are still going strong and have become great traditions in town. These include the annual Beatles Tribute and the annual Picnics on the Plaza concert series. Kay has organized and helped run countless Country Fair Day events, and many Town picnics and other gatherings. As Kay moves on to new chapters with her husband Carter, we all wish her the best! The following is a link to a recent Marin IJ article about Kay:https://www.marinij.com/2019/06/04/san-anselmo-councilwoman-kay-coleman-to-step-down/
