A Note from the Friends of the
San Anselmo Library
Dear Fellow San Anselmo Library Lovers,
Like so many of our beloved local institutions, the San Anselmo Public Library has been seriously affected by the coronavirus. Library Director Linda Kenton and the library staff have worked tirelessly and creatively to maintain programs and services as much as possible during this challenging time. For example, curbside pick-up for books and DVDs is available, as is virtual programming of art talks, author lectures, children's and adult bookclubs, a greatly increased amount of ebooks, and reference and reader's advisory services.
Since the mid-1970s, the Friends of the San Anselmo Library (FOSAL) has been the main fundraising organization supporting our Library, chiefly through our used book sales; since opening Town Books in 2014, we have contributed over $100,000 in library support. A majority of the programs mentioned above are those that FOSAL typically underwrites. In the past few months alone we have provided funding for programs including art talks, summer reading programs for children and adults, virtual storytimes, and Tunstead Live presentations, totaling over $5,000.
However, our fundraising ability has also been negatively affected by the coronavirus. We had to close our doors altogether for over three months, and since then we have been able to open only on a very limited basis. That's why we are turning to you with a special fundraising appeal. We realize that many of you give during our annual membership/fund donation drive each year and, if you have done so, we thank you and appreciate your ongoing support. But now we're making a special appeal to help us continue to fund the programs our Library makes available to our community.
Will you give, or give again, during this challenging time? Any amount will be gratefully appreciated. You can send checks to
