Special Town Council Meeting
To Consider Ordinance That Would Require Town Employers With 25 or Fewer Employees to Pay Employees Sick Leave For COVID-19 Related Reasons

To help support efforts to reduce spread of COVID-19 and assist sick workers who need to quarantine and miss work, the San Anselmo Town Council will hold a special meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 16th on ZOOM to consider an urgency ordinance that would require employers in the Town with 25 or fewer employees to provide supplemental paid sick leave for certain COVID-19-related reasons through September 30, 2021. If adopted, the ordinance would take effect immediately. Federal tax credits for businesses were recently extended through September 30 via the American Rescue Plan. Businesses will be financially covered through reimbursements as they pay sick leave for COVID-exposed workers through September 30. The County of Marin adopted a similar ordinance for unincorporated areas on June 8, 2021.

New Mask Rules

As of August 2, 2021, Marin County requires the use of masks indoors by all people, vaccinated or unvaccinated. Masks are not required outdoors, but are strongly recommended in crowded environments.

Individuals, businesses, venue operators, hosts, and others responsible for the operation of indoor public settings must:

Require all employees, contractors, visitors, and patrons to wear face coverings in all indoor settings, regardless of their vaccination status; and
Post clearly visible and easy-to-read signage at all entry points for indoor settings to communicate the masking requirements to all patrons.
In addition, those responsible for indoor public settings are strongly encouraged to provide face coverings at no cost to individuals required to wear them.
No person can be prevented from wearing a mask as a condition of participation in an activity or entry into a business.

Shopping, Dining and Music in Downtown San Anselmo

The Town has opened San Anselmo Avenue for pedestrian-only access from Tamalpais to Tunstead Avenues at 6:00 pm on Friday nights, and at 5:00 pm on Saturday nights. The Town welcomes shoppers and diners back every weekend to enjoy themselves and to take advantage of this safe community space.

The Town of San Anselmo in partnership with the San Anselmo Chamber of Commerce is excited to present San Anselmo Live!, a live entertainment series that coincides with the On the Avenue weekend street closure program. San Anselmo Live!, which is generously sponsored by Eric Gelman of Compass Real Estate and by Jack Kammer of Fairway Mortgage, will schedule musical acts on the Creek Park stage and on the Town Hall Plaza through October, weather permitting.
