Judy Chicago: A Retrospective

Judy Chicago: A Retrospective
Tuesday, October 12 at 12pm

Join us for a celebration of the life and work of pioneering feminist artist Judy Chicago. Docent Victoria Kirby will explore Chicago’s full body of work, from her early forays into minimalism to her current work that addresses mortality and environmental issues. Judy Chicago: A Retrospective, an exhibition on display at the de Young Museum August 28, 2021-January 9, 2022, is a fitting tribute to an artist who has spent a lifetime fighting for social justice and female expression.

Color Into Line:
Pastels from the Renaissance to the Present

Tuesday, November 9 at 12pm

With the appearance of painting, the immediacy of drawing, and the matte finish of a fresco, pastel is one of the most versatile mediums used throughout art history. Mike Madrid, a docent with the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, will trace the history of pastels while also providing audiences a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to appreciate rare works not usually on public view.
