Spotlight on Nnedi Okorafor
Nnedimma Nkedmdili "Nnedi" Okorafor is a Nigerian-American writer of fantasy, science fiction, and Africanfuturism for all ages. Africanfuturism is a cultural aesthetic and philiosphy of science that centers on the fusion of African culture, history, mythology, point of view, with technology based in Africa, and not limiting to the African diaspora. She defined Africanfuturism in her 2017 TedTalk.
Nnedi Okorafor is the first black woman to win the World Fantasy Award for Best Novel. She's best known for her award-winning Binti novellas, Akata Witch, Akata Warrior, and Remote Control. Her latest Africanfuturism novel, Noor, was published in November 2021.
