Alice Neel: People Come First

Art Talk Tuesday
Alice Neel: People Come First

Tuesday, April 12 at 12pm on Zoom

“For me, people come first,” American artists Alice Neel declared in 1950. “I have tried to assert the dignity and eternal importance of the human being.” Neel spent most of her life living and working in New York City, and her work testifies to the diversity, resilience, and passion of the people she encountered there. Ruth Modric, a docent from the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, will share paintings, drawings, and watercolors that position Neel as one of the 20th century’s most radical artists and a champion of social justice. These works illuminate Neel’s longstanding commitment to humanist principles that still resonate with the social and cultural politics of our time.

Tech Troubleshooting

Librarians are working diligently to make technology help as convenient as possible for you and are developing a three-pronged plan.?The first part is to let you know that you can always ask a reference librarian for help when you are in the library.? Reference librarians can help you with our digital services, downloading ebooks, streaming movies, and more.?You can also call us at 415-258-4656 for some quick answers, though frequently in-person assistance is the most effective.

The second part of our plan is that we are launching a new service to help address your technology needs. You can now?Book a Librarian?for up to one-hour of one-on-one tech help at your convenience. This new service is designed to offer dedicated, one-on-one, uninterrupted personal assistance. Complete the following form and a librarian will contact you within two business days to schedule your appointment:?https://forms.gle/cqt5mzpNHXC6nChy5.

Finally, we are hoping to bring back Wired Wednesdays, our?drop-in program for?one-on-one sessions with our Teen Techie. Many of you mentioned this in the survey and praised the opportunity. The library does not currently have Wired Wednesdays but we are actively looking for a new Teen to bring this program back. If you or someone you know are interested in being our Teen Techie, please email?sleyland@townofsananselmo.org.

The Teen Techie can be a volunteer or paid position. The ideal person is comfortable with technology and teaching people of all ages how to use technology. The library will train the new Teen Techie how to use library digital resources.?
