Art Talk Tuesday
Adornment: Displays of Wealth and Status
Tuesday, May 10 at 12pm on Zoom
Gold, silver, gems, pearls. Crowns, earrings, pendants, bracelets. For thousands of years people from all countries and cultures have ornamented themselves with costly, intricate, and often symbolic, jewelry to attest to their wealth, status, and importance. Cultures from the ancient Persians and Koreans to 18th century ethnic Indonesians to modern Chinese and South Asians have loved beautifully crafted adornment. Speaker Mary Mead will share examples of eye-catching and meaningful wearable art from the Asian Art Museum’s fabulous collections. Interested in attending?
