Volunteer of the Year

Congratulations Dick Miner

2017 San Anselmo Volunteer of the Year

At the Town Council meeting of Tuesday, November 28, Town resident Dick Miner was named the 2017 San Anselmo Volunteer of the Year.

Dick has served on the Historical Commission since 2006 and acts as docent in the Historical Museum. Since 2009, he has annually conducted local history tours for 2nd grade classes from all the schools in town. He has personally conducted over 30 oral history interviews with long-time San Anselmo residents and, in 2017, he developed the ‘Stroll Through History’ project. Dick led these popular walking tours in downtown San Anselmo monthly from June through October.

In his not-so-spare time, Dick volunteers weekly at the Alcatraz Historic Gardens. He leads tours and manages the composting efforts on the Island where he has earned the nickname “Chief Composting Officer.” In addition, Dick is involved in gardening and composting projects Olompali State Park in Novato and at Western Hills Nursery in Occidental. He is also a frequent volunteer host for Bread & Roses.

Thank you, Dick, for your tireless efforts for the community and congratulations on the being named the 2017 San Anselmo Volunteer of the Year!

Santa's House

Letters to Santa

Last year hundreds of children dropped off letters to Santa at his downtown San Anselmo house located in front of Town Hall. Keep up the tradition and bring a letter for Santa. Town Hall “elves” will make sure the letters reach Santa during this busy holiday season.

Each year, the San Anselmo Recreation Department partners with the Ross Valley Fire Station to bring the popular Breakfast with Santa event to Fire Station #19 (777 San Anselmo Ave.). Don't forget your wish list and your camera as Santa will be in attendance. It wouldn't be Breakfast with Santa without him! There will also be a toy drive so be sure to bring a toy!

Pre-sales for this event have closed. A limited amount of seats are reserved for each time slot. Seatings are at 8:00am and at 10:00am.
